Serge POLIAKOFF (1900-1969)

Born in Moscow in 1900, Serge Poliakoff went into exile in France in the 1920s and became one of the masters of thelyrical abstractionInitially a musician, he discovered painting in Paris and established himself in the 1950s as a key figure of the School of Paris. His paintings, composed of interlocking forms and deep colors, express a mysterious balance between rigor and emotion. Poliakoff sought to achieve inner harmony through the vibration of color. Without ever lapsing into mere decoration, his work explores the power of silence and light. He died in Paris in 1969, leaving behind a spiritual and timeless body of work, a symbol of meditative abstraction.
